Night 55: M61-70 Hallway

The food was disgusting, but he had to eat. While Grell was hardly a gourmet by any stretch of the imagination, he knew good food from poor and this? Was atrocious. He'd only managed to choke it down because without food he'd have no energy and there was no way he'd allow his energy to run out. He still ached from his fight the previous night, ( Read more... )

As it turned out, everything had been returned to them. When the boxes had been placed in their room was difficult to say, seeing how they were kept out and about all day. Still, Guy was glad to see that all of his items were in place, from clothes to weapons to devices. More than that, he was relieved that all of Edgar's things would likely have been returned to him as well, though he got the feeling most of it wouldn't be able to fit into the boxes they'd been provided ( ... )

Okay, that was more like it. Not quite on the level of Landel's theatrics, but assaulting their ears with static made Aguilar at least as irritating. Kirk scowled at the ceiling as the general uttered vaguely ominous pronouncements into the intercom, and wondered there existed a handbook on how to talk to the prisoners of the Institute. Be condescending. Say a lot while simultaneously explaining nothing. Have a flair for the dramatic. It became downright nostalgic if he imagined Aguilar as bald with tattoos and pointed ears ( ... )

Okita bid his roommate farewell and good luck after he finished changing and heading out. The metal box had contained his things and Okita assumed the one that had his name on it would hold his. But after Guy left, Okita still made no move to get dressed. Instead, he waited until he was certain that Guy wouldn't come back and then looked toward the box. Their captors knew what they kept with them. It meant that their actions were being monitored more closely than he'd thought. Weapons and contraband were going to be held during the day and then returned at night, was that it ( ... )

[From M64]His 'roommate' hadn't shown up at dinner again, which had left Hijikata with time to eat, contemplate the events of the day, and inspect the contents of the box that had been left for him. It was the same set of items he'd found in the desk the night before, with the single addition of the sword he'd been given by Souji. They were willingly being handed weapons. That made the intent here perfectly clear, didn't it ( ... )

The door beside him opened and Okita straightened, looking over to see if it was Hijikata or his roommate. A familiar form appeared from the doorway, however, and he relaxed, smiling openly at the usual stern expression on Hijikata's face. With them being right next to each other now, Okita would have to be more careful. Episodes like before couldn't be allowed to be overheard or the consequences could and would be dire.

He wasn't asking after him, however, so perhaps he hadn't heard at all and it was all in Okita's head.

"Good evening, Hijikata-san." The greeting was followed by a bow and Okita carefully pulling the second katana from his hakama ties. The weight of it wasn't anything more than the usual sword he carried and yet, as he held it out in both hands to offer it to his leader, it felt so much heavier. "I have another gift for you - something more to your liking, I think."

Hijikata actively avoided assessing Souji the moment he saw him--doing so would just put the younger man on guard if he had been the one he'd heard coughing, and that wouldn't do either of them a bit of good.

Thankfully, there was a distraction. Somehow, despite their failure the previous evening, Souji had a katana for him. He took it, looking it over before giving Souji a curious look. "Where did this come from?" He'd been lead to believe that weapons were hard to come by, and their experience the night before had reinforced that.

If he had this, though, it meant he could return the other blade. "This is yours, then," he commented, handing the oddly shaped sword over. Perhaps there would be someone else who could use it more effectively than he had.

The Doctor almost preferred the charade. Almost.

While it was nice to finally have some actual information coming from the intercom, he didn't like the sound of what few words were being said over it now. Their actions determining the military's, a 'system' being fine-tuned, causality... The Doctor wanted to know what results there had been, and in what way those results had been found satisfactory. All of it sounded fairly innocuous right now, but it left him with a bad feeling... And he had a bad feeling about that bad feeling.

The Doctor had changed clothes long before the doors unlocked, but after they had, he took a moment to sort through his other belongings and decide which pockets they'd go in if he brought them at all. The sonic screwdriver was returned last, placed in the inside breast pocket of his coat. Once ready, he picked up his torch and headed out.

Your actions tonight will determine ours in the coming days. So Morgan had been right. This place wasn't taking people in order to have them divulge information. It was taking them for something else, like a game that those in power wanted to watch. At least they knew there was reasoning now. The general was expecting results. Quite what would happen after the results were achieved was another question that Soren wanted answered. First, though, he needed to make some sort of result happen, and sitting here was doing nothing ( ... )
