Day 55: Intercom, Noon
Late morning seemed rather lax in comparison to breakfast (or the lack thereof). Consequently, the intercom's jingle and the subsequent announcement proved slightly jarring.
"Attention all subjects and personnel," rang the clear voice of an unknown female. "All subjects will report to the cafeteria for their noonday meal. I repeat: all subjects will report to the cafeteria for their noonday meal. This is effective immediately. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action."
There was a slight pause. One could wonder what else the speaker had in store.
"The individuals who participated in yesterday morning's insubordination are to report to their escorts. I repeat: individuals who participated in yesterday's insubordination are to report to their escorts. Failure to comply will result in further disciplinary action."
An intake of breath followed.
"Thank you."
The intercom clicked off.
