He reached the top of the stairs and belatedly realized Ritsuka had directed a question to him. He tried to remember what had been said, but it remained a mess within his head, made worse after that. Albedo shifted the shotgun restlessly, weight hanging easily from his fingers, and glanced to the other boy, unsure.
Something about preferring to work on one's own. He blinked. "It's not much of a choice with me. I'm by myself whether I want to be or not."
It took a moment before common sense caught up and berated the easy admittance. In front of a person he didn't know, no less. His mouth twisted unhappily, wondering how much more he would be molded into someone he didn't know for the sake of the twin that hated him and the little brother who was happier without him.

Venom stayed in the shadows as he exited the stairwell, back to the wall and eyes trained on those already here. Three patients (two children, one adult) and one antagonist (also a child. Red eyes, obviously using some sort of Magic). One of the children was already injured.
Nnngh...
Bella was visibly missing from the group of combatants, meaning she had either already left or was still located further ahead. Ignoring the pang of guilt that came with it, he continued on. He didn't have time to get involved.

When they reached the top of the stairs, Okita paused. There was a battle going on here and the smell of gunpowder in the air. From afar, Okita could see a young man (Peter? Yes, it was Peter) and two children being attacked by a third child with red eyes. This wasn't the first time he'd seen something like this, but the fact that the Institute was using children to do its dirty work was disgusting. There was little Okita and his group could do, however, and so Okita motioned the others forward, giving them a signal to keep quiet.

A few steps into the hallway and immediately Sechs sensed the telltale signs of a violent scuffle going on in the distance. Kibitoshin's flashlight had not illuminated the battle going on yet, but the android could hear and smell the extent of the fight. It made his racing heart accelerate. He wanted to join the fight, vent his frustrations over everything... But his mission to find Alita took top priority. Plus, he didn't think Kibitoshin would appreciate him getting into more "silly fights"...
Keeping a safe distance for now, Sechs stood his ground and pondered over his plan. From what he recalled, the janitor's closet was on the other side of the building. That could mean running past a perfectly good fight! Sechs grumbled and scowled at the thought. The other option would be to go back to the first floor and take a different staircase, but that took up too much time! The more he thought, the more his frustration gathered up inside his chest! He felt slowed down by Kibitoshin and rushed by his need to accomplish his ( ... )

Or maybe it was exactly for that reason. Maybe he was just starting to reach the end of his tether, and- and--
He took in a deep breath. Okay. So if this was his temper, he needed to try and control it. There was no point in having a big fight here, where everyone could see it (including monsters and brainwashed patients looking for a fight). Which was why it came as yet another unpleasant surprise when he heard himself, in an incredibly sulky voice, answering, "I was just trying to be helpful. Don't be so unfair ( ... )

"Don't be so unfair...!" crooned the dark voice in Sechs' consciousness. In that short moment of silence, Sechs felt the words reverberate inside, giving way to shame. Sechs himself hated seeing unfairness in life, and Kibitoshin was his friend--
Yet the faint presence of guilt disturbed his festering temper, and within seconds it reared its ugly head inside Sechs, bursting out of him in the form of a loud snarl. "Hey! It's not like I begged you to come ( ... )

Going up the stairs, Vino paused in the shadows, checking the hallway above. There was more blood here. Seemed there had been a conflict here as well, maybe even multiple. But he had yet to encounter one that was in progress yet. He hoped he could meet something interesting soon...
Silently, he moved away from the stairwell, eyes well-adjusted enough to the dark to see that past the blood spatters, there were two hallways he was facing, one directly in front of him and one farther to his left -- similar to the floor set-up below, actually. To his right, the hallway extended farther on, where it got lighter around the corner.
'That must be where the Sun Room balcony is, right?' he thought to himself. The clear ceiling windows in the room probably made it the brightest area in the entire building. Vino wasn't interested in the Sun Room though.
He picked the hallway on the far left, heading towards it, not bothering to skirt the pools of blood.

"Turn around and go back the way you came," he said firmly, "I'm not going to ask again."
