[From here.]In a detached way, Edward could recognize how lucky he was to have met Stefan at the time he did. Now with Venom gone, he had no one he trusted outside of Bella and no source of blood. Mello rolled his eyes, listening to the announcement. No matter who it came from, this 'you brought it on yourselves' bullshit was really getting old.

The sling was getting old, too, and Mello's arm felt maneuverable, if a bit stiff and sore, so he ditched the thing. He swiftly changed into his leather, half in the closet, pulled on the coat, boots, and gloves. Little had happened to contradict his earlier assessment that the military goons would rely on brute force to keep the prisoners in line, and that was fine by him.

For once, the bugs gave him pause, though he didn't hesitate in his preparations. The gun went in his back waistband, and he put Lamperouge's journal, the tin of mints, the batteries, and the radio in the pillowcase. The pipe would only be extra weight, and the flashlight would do just as well for a weapon. He considered a moment, and added the drugs and lighter fluid to the pillowcase, too. Mello had never believed in owning more than he could easily carry, and that went double at Landel's.

"Good luck," he told Vino, and he meant it. Then he headed out.
