So, Schuldig was working his charm faster than Crawford had ever seen him do so before. If Rufus was anything like Crawford (and they seemed to be quite similar, just from the outward observations), then Schuldig was working quite well and quite fast. Exerting more effort into earning one man's trust than he probably ever had before. And while Crawford appreciated it and knew it would come in useful (and besides, he may have formed alliances, but Schuldig tended to seal the deal), it still irked him just the smallest bit. He couldn't say why ...

(Most likely because Schuldig had never once called him 'sir', or been quite so straightforward with information ... but who knew.)

"Experiments." Crawford despised that word. "I will assume no-one we know is currently under the knife and syringe?" Not that they would know, regardless: the names given over the intercom had been the names given to the patients as they arrived. Still, there was always the possibility that Schuldig, or one of the other men, had recognized a false name, or knew there was someone missing.

And while he would appreciate breaking into one of the experiments and stopping it in the middle, and likely catching one of the doctors in the process, he really had no need to go rescuing someone he had no relationship to.

Rufus's obvious approval of Schuldig might've bothered Reno more under other circumstances, but at this point, he really couldn't get any more annoyed than he already was.

Besides, it wasn't as though he could do much about it right now. And Reno was a big believer in not wasting his time on something clearly futile.

"Didn't hear anyone I know," he said. "But I didn't catch everyone's assigned names."

Still, it was enough for him that Elena, Dean, and Rufus were accounted for. One of the taken had been that kid's brother, but Dean had gone to play hero in that regards. Anyone else...well, there was no point in worrying over the unknown.

Schuldig's tone didn't escape his notice, either. So the telepath had had some experience in what was going on tonight? That was interesting. Reno had only run into those affected by Special Counselling so far, and he didn't envy anyone who'd ended up under the knife. There were few types of people he hated more than scientists. And if he had to admit it, they creeped the hell out of him, too.

He glanced at Rufus and shrugged. "My guess is as good as anyone's, as to where to go next...but the hallway's just about finished up there. We should turn back before we get trapped between some creature and a dead end."

"If there had been any of my people, we wouldn't be standing here talking."

Rufus' answer was short and clipped, cold instead of angry as he would have been. His people were his, damn it. It still infuriated him to no end that they had chosen to play their games with Reno, that they had dared to turn his own Turk on him. He hadn't been present for Elena's, and that was most likely a very good thing. Unlike most people, Rufus Shinra didn't rush in with anger burning. His method was more cold and precise like a scalpel. Fools rushed in. And usually died. He leaned down, poking through a few boxes. Some gauze, tape, and burn cream was added into his little bag. Gods only knew when they might need it. An extra tube of the burn cream was tossed to Reno.

"You might need that."

C’mon, boss, haven’t you been waiting for this? I know we’re lacking a bed and all and we’ve got a bit of an audience here, but no time like the present, right?

Rufus shook his head, breaking off that line of thought and the variety of emotions it drew back up.

Glancing at Schuldig at his side, Rufus found himself mildly impressed against his will. A telepath was a rare and valuable thing on his planet. He'd never met a true one, and here, for some reason, he had one nearly at his heels. An pre-cog as well was enough to stun him, especially one that he suspected held to his own work ethic. That was something about Brad Crawford that reminded him of... well, him. Not to mention that they both had redheads. If he judged Schuldig right, the telepath probably led Crawford on as merry a chase as Reno did him.

Smirking a bit, Rufus led them on.
