Day 54: Intercom, Morning

Jan 18, 2011 02:57

It was hard to imagine that either the regular staff or the soldiers, who had seemed so out of place that morning, had anticipated what the patient populace had decided to do during breakfast. While the grand majority of patients had eventually decided to calm down and either escape to adjacent rooms or stay hidden under the cafeteria tables, there ( Read more... )

There was such a thing as overkill.

Zack knew that he'd been guilty of it before. Casting a Firaga spell on a weak monster was just cruel, wasn't it? But this wasn't about monsters, this was about people, and he'd just been beaten down, sedated, gassed, and then locked up.

All for throwing a few kicks and punches.

It had been pretty surreal for him to lose a fight in the first place, but he knew he was pretty much useless without a sword -- at least against a soldier trained as well as the one he'd fought with had been. The sedation had really just been unnecessary at that point, since he'd already been on the floor, though in a way it had been a good thing; he'd been too out of it to feel the full effects of the gas because of it, only somewhat aware of the fact that he was drooling all over himself.

Being showered by a nurse could have been called exciting if he hadn't been a mess by then, and once he was in the solitary room (and wrapped up in a strait jacket at that -- they were going all out this time), it took him a minute or two to even realize where he was.

He knew that his head was swimming, that he was barely conscious and his throat hurt; that his nose was running and he couldn't even wipe at it because he was restrained.

Yeah, this was overkill.

More than that, it reminded him of a time when he'd been caged up in a tube full of mako, soaking it into his body for the sake of science. He'd been caged again -- not that the whole building was a cage, but the claustrophobia was disappointingly familiar. But this time, Cloud wasn't even around to try and talk to -- not that the blond had ever responded, but it had given him the illusion of not being alone.

This time, all Zack could do was sit there and let his mind blank out.
