Day 54: Breakfast

Jan 10, 2011 09:45

For once, HK was working very hard to hide a giddy facial expression as he met his nurse at the door. He'd already hidden his scalpels in his clothing. The wonderful, sharp implements of doom would be needed today. “Statement: Despite my reticence towards all processed meat and plant products, I am experiencing intolerable levels of hunger,” he ( Read more... )

[I could have Carter grab Goku instead, would that work?]

Carter was too busy laughing to notice Goku at first. He picked up the contents of his tray and flung them up in the air, letting them hit prisoner and captor indiscriminately. It was fun to cut loose and cause chaos again, just like old times. When the nurse came over Carter was already preparing his apologies and his sorry prisoner face, assuming Goku would do the same--

Oh.

Oh no.

Maybe the other prisoners were only used to Landel's, but Carter had been raised on Nazi guards with guns and jackboots. It was always a delicate line they danced, to be as annoying and manipulative as possible without making them decide you needed a formal punishment. A food fight would be pushing it at the best of times but outright physical violence...that wasn't just crossing the line, it wad detonating it. That was suicide.

"Hey, he's just a little kid!" Carter, panicking, made a grab for Goku's waist. "He's just stupid! Leave him alone!" Oh god oh god, he needed to get Goku away from the guards right the heck now. You never hit a guard and let them see you do it. The Nazis didn't care if you were a defiant child...Carter didn't think these guys did either.

[Sorry for late reply! I had mod questions.]

"Yes, yes, for God-sakes! There's no need for violence! A sedation is more than enough!"

If Goku heard any of the conversation moving between Andrew, the nurse, and one of the officers, he didn't act like it. He continued to windmill his arms and legs despite being detained by his new friend. The monkey boy was still under the impression that he had the upper hand in this situation.

"Don't worry, Andrew!" Goku shouted, still clawing for the officer. Men weren't really supposed to hit women, so with a male rival now in sight, Goku ignored the nurse. "I'll protect ya!"

The nurse quickly beckoned another with a sedative to assist her. "Mr. Fuhrmann, if you could keep Billy still..."

Carter didn't want Goku sedated either, but it was better than getting his brains bashed out.

"Don't hurt him, please," he begged as he tried to keep the writhing mass of ambiguously Asian child from squirming out of his arms. It was made even more difficult by the fact that his hand was still in a splint and was functionally useless for holding on to Goku. "He's just being silly. He's only a kid." Please let them listen to the nurse, the nurse was a nice lady. Carter felt horrifically guilty for leading Goku on. He should have known a kid wouldn't know the rules of being a prisoner of war and would take it too far.

"It's okay, Goku," he said frantically, leaning on the table for support. "You're gonna take a nap now and then you'll wake up and it'll be okay, okay? You're gonna be fine." It was going to be fine.

The young boy looked up at Carter, realizing that he was trying to say something. He wasn't sure why he was about to take a nap--he felt just fine!--, but it was enough to distract him from his continuous flurry of movement against the military officer.

"Of course I'm fine! Wh--Uwwaah!!! NEEDLE!" There wasn't a lot that could frighten Goku. Actually, there was nothing in the world that could frighten him, except for the venomous bee sting of a needle. Just the sight of the syringe was enough to make Goku reel back into Carter's arms. He had been trying to protect the man from the witches and officers, but now all bets were off. It was every boy for himself! He tried to use Carter as a spring board for escape but it wasn't working.

"No, Billy--! Mr. Fuhrmann! Hold him down!" The nurse would not give the officer beside them due cause to enforce his own brand of order while they struggled to subdue this boy. The nurse reached for Goku's arm in an attempt to administer the shot, but he was flailing to hard. She didn't want to break the needle off into his arm and make this situation worse.

"For Chrissake! It's one kid!"

She looked up and unabashedly glared at the officer. This wasn't the first disorderly patient they have had at Landel's and he wouldn't be last. She did not need a stranger to tell her how to do her job.

Carter reeled, wobbling back and forth as Goku kicked at him. His healing arm was straining and one smack of Goku's arm made him yowl.

Focus, Andrew, focus through the pain. He was getting good at that, right, really good, he was great at that. Carter swallowed and tried to think of more well-intentioned lies. "It's not gonna hurt! It's...it's a magic future needle, okay, it's a special kind, they're made so they don't hurt." He pulled his face into a wide, almost rictus grin as he twisted Goku down onto the table.

It was kind of funny, him being in league with the nurses for once. He'd have a good laugh about it when he wasn't trying to hold down a terrified and surprisingly strong child so he could get injected with chemicals.

akhfksfhj just writing this out is making my needle phobia freak out baww! boketa January 20 2011, 03:45:07 UTC
Goku kept wrenching his head left and right to squirm away, but it was no use. The white witch loomed above him with the hypodermic needle with grim determination.

"It'll just take a second, Billy. Just a little sting and it'll be all over, okay?" The nurse didn't wait for a response, however. Wiping the bend of Goku's elbow with antiseptic, she pressed the needle through his skin and down on the plunger.

Goku clenched everything, which only made it hurt worse in the end. He yelped once, but as she promised, it was over with in only a few seconds. Looking up at her with angry black eyes, Goku watched the nurse step away and encourage the uniformed officer to do the same.

"I'll be watching you very closely, Mr. Fuhrmann. Throw one more piece of food, try to retaliate in any way, and I won't be able to control whatever force is deemed necessary to subdue you or Billy." She looked down at the boy who was already showing signs of lethargy and antipathy.

Aww, you poor thing. *hug* stlg13bomber January 20 2011, 15:31:20 UTC
"I won't, ma'am," Carter promised, making a little cross-my-heart gesture on his chest. He cradled Goku in his arms and gently lowered the boy onto a chair, releasing him only when he was sure he wasn't going to kick again. Goku was probably going to hate him when he woke up again (why did he have a habit of making Asian guys mad, he needed to stop doing that) but hopefully he'd understand why it had happened.

Whew. Crisis averted. Carter was sure the rest of breakfast would go much better for him.
