For once, HK was working very hard to hide a giddy facial expression as he met his nurse at the door. He'd already hidden his scalpels in his clothing. The wonderful, sharp implements of doom would be needed today. “Statement: Despite my reticence towards all processed meat and plant products, I am experiencing intolerable levels of hunger,” he

A nurse urged her to take food even though she was trying to dismiss it for the time being -- so much for tryin' to give herself time to let that thing drift to the back of her mind. So, she grabbed one half of an english muffin and tossed it down on her plate, shooting the staff a snide look as if to ask 'happy now?' Picking the plate up, she turned to carry it to a side table, keeping an eye out for anyone who might actually provide something useful to her to come in ( ... )

Automatically out of sheer force of habit, Ruby gave her a critical once-over, scrutinizing any oddities and assessing the girl. She was just a kid, by the looks of it. No more than fifteen or sixteen, but Ruby was the first to acknowledge that looks could be deceiving in that way. No conclusions until she had a better way of telling. Hey, how's it going didn't exactly set off the supernatural alarm bells, but around here, she wasn't ruling it out ( ... )

That was what made Senna interesting. As good as Ruby was at reading people, she wasn't seeing any falsification of that attitude in her breakfast companion. Like she wasn't afraid to be there playing fright night and fighting to survive under the strained circumstances that they'd put everybody else under. She seemed like she was just bugged and not determined."Ruby," she returned the introduction with a casual nod of acknowledgment, taking a bite of her english muffin to mull it over. "What computer crap? I musta missed that one in the flurry of all the usual weird." Speaking of usual weird … across the ( ... )

"Hey, a girl needs her beauty rest," she responded with a shrug. She wasn't going to indicate either way whether it was just a full 24 of rest (wasn't that a little more like a coma?) or if she hadn't been there because she didn't want Senna to know, no matter how useful the girl was being. Definitely someone to keep an eye out for in the future, either way. "Especially in a place like this." The addition was a little more grim, but still in the resigned sense. She wasn't bemoaning her presence here by any means -- she just knew how bad it sucked and was ready to deal ( ... )

The food fight had quietly deevolved into an all-out fight all around, and she became agitated at the thought of her friends getting caught in the crossfire. She hadn't seen Soma, and Nigredo wasn't around. But what about the rest of them? Her eyes roved over the room, but there was little to see in the chaos. "People have been grabbed for testing all the time," she replied, a bit distractedly. "I think it's pretty much the horror foundation of the place."
Which seemed to do its job handily, from Soma's reaction. Plus, there was the brainwashing.... And all of that other stuff. "If the robot chick's right, this whole thing is a test or something. Not just one part of it, but the whole package."
