Night 53: Entry Room

Dec 19, 2010 00:13

[ from here ]Just as Erika carefully opened the door to the entry room, her radio crackled to life and if there was anything in that room, it definitely would have been alerted about their presence. If Erika minded this, it didn't show as she seemed to ignore the radio's broadcast, instead inspecting the room with her flashlight. Her back and forth ( Read more... )

Sync had planned to answer when he heard the radio come to life, spending a moment to listen to its contents with obvious amusement. However, there was no real point in commenting when no information was provided, and so the God-General had no trouble in continuing where they left off ( ... )

Erika actually appreciated how vague Sync was, finding the little clues refreshing while she tackled the bigger picture. Common knowledge... There was something questionable that she heard on the intercom some nights ago, but she hadn't heard of it since. Erika had only pursued the matter of the patients being taken away for sleep studies because her own roommate had fallen victim of that, so she didn't know much... But she could make an educated guess ( ... )

There it was. The question was simple, but it gave him the impression that Erika was at least going in the right direction.

"Not for me, but I'm sure a few people could recognize them." And too bad for them, really. He'd managed to scrape by without any 'acquaintances' going under the influence, which may have led to some problems depending on how aware they actually were with everyone who passed by. The last thing he needed was someone like Luke using a hyperresonsance and dissolving the entire institute (and then some).

"Anyway, as far as I know there's been some kind of pattern to these occurrences. The bulletin made it easier to pinpoint before the staff actually started looking at it."

"< Good. >" The clue about the bulletin board was what tipped Erika off ultimately. Now, she could be sure of the identities of the people who were guarding the Sun Room and she didn't even have to guess. Of course, she wasn't entirely sure of what the "pattern" was yet but the detective gained a starting point. She kept the answer to herself though, as she started to work at the handle of the second file room. It was another one of those rusted locks; she wondered if they were like this on purpose, or if it every door could be opened with enough force ( ... )

It seemed like Erika was quite serious in her demand to talk in the other room, as she wasted no time in moving across the Entry Room and getting to work on the lock of the other File Room. She was vaguely aware of the fact that this pursuit was probably pointless in the grand scheme of things; this clearly was not Battler's gameboard, nor was it even based off Beatrice's design at this point, but the girl still held her grudge and any attempt to humiliate Battler was worth it, even if she had to soil her own reputation to do it.

Just like the previous room, this lock was also rusty and Erika started to make quick work of it. Either she was getting impatient or she simply stopped caring about attracting attention, because this time Erika used the hilt of her katana to strike the lock. Once she heard that satisfying crack of metal, Erika kicked the door open with a smirk and headed inside.
