The intercom clicked on but stayed silent before soft laughter began that seemed far too reminiscent of the Head Doctor's nighttime antics to sit well with the patients.
"MWA-HA-HA! VELCOME! As some of you might have read on the bulletin board, it's time for a special Halloween Celebration!" The Head Doctor certainly seemed to be enjoying himself more than in his usual daytime announcements as he continued going in and out of a playful Dracula accent. "As you might notice when you walk into the cafeteria and Sun Room, we've decorated for the holiday with streamers, banners, and some (unlit) jack-o-lanterns for you all to enjoy! As far as food, we'll be serving sandwiches for which you can choose different cold cuts of meat and toppings, as well as a garden salad on the side to keep you all nice and healthy. Oh, and did I mention you can take caramel apples for dessert, as well as a handful of candy corn? We won't let you miss out on this fun-filled holiday!"
A pause. He continued in an almost mischievous tone.
"Speaking of fun-filled, a good many of you have had Halloween costumes sent to us by your families for you to wear. Now, although it'd be against regulations for us to allow you to wear them the whole day, we've agreed that it's only fair you have a chance to wear them during our celebration. Our nurses should be bringing those to you shortly. Happy HalloVEEN!"
The intercom clicked off amidst the groans of a few of the more sensible nurses.
