Night 53: M41-M50 Hallway

Dec 13, 2010 13:42

Dinner had turned out to just be a session of complaining with Lunge about how hard it was to get things done in this place, which just made Harvey take a step back and realize that complaining wasn't going to get him anywhere. As much as he enjoyed stewing in his own anger, the only thing he could do was keep going. That explosion had taken a lot ( Read more... )

Even the Wizard Landel sounded on edge tonight, dropping his good wizard act mid-sentence and becoming the nastier doctor he always was during the night. His words were ominous, hinting that the next day would bring something- but what? An eagle? The Scarecrow had to wonder how bad this eagle could be, but if it was anything like the crows in Oz and was somehow tied to Landel, it couldn't possibly be good.

Taking one last look inside his drawer, the Scarecrow decided to take the two-way radio after all, leaving his own in the desk for now. If he got into trouble (wandering through the Horrible Hallway almost always led to that), he could call for help. The fact that he could keep in contact with Depth Charge over a distance and make sure he was all right was an added bonus.

Clicking his second flashlight on and off again, he gave Depth Charge a nod. "You be careful out there tonight." The door closed softly behind him as he hurried through the corridor- with luck, he'd beat the somethings to the halls and make it upstairs ( ... )

With Mason's fate at stake, Claude rushed through changing into his uniform, intent on getting ready before the doors fully unlocked. Most of his dinner had once again been left untouched, but he wouldn't have been able to focus too hard on eating even if he'd wanted to. Getting his sword, phase gun and flashlight in order were more important.

By the time the Head Doctor's message came on, he could barely even pay attention to it. Instead, his mind was reeling over what he'd just witnessed.

Those bastards, he furiously thought to himself as he paced up and down the room like a caged animal. Those rotten bastards! As if all the other roommates they'd cycled through hadn't been enough. Now they were going to torture Mason, too?! Just seeing the man get dragged away had stirred up a lot of unwanted memories for Claude, and he was determined to make sure Mason didn't wind up alone once those damn doctors were done with him.

As soon as he heard the all-too-familiar click of the locks coming undone, Claude wasted no time in ( ... )

Tonight Dent left with a parting shot- an encouraging one at that, even if it was placed within a firmly realistic understanding of what 'further' meant here. In his own way, Lunge returned the favour by looking away as the man removed his bandages with a soft, uncomfortable rip that caught on his nerves probably more than the sight of it alone would have done. Years of visiting crime scenes could harden you, yes, but- well. Even Lunge had to allow himself a split-second or two of weakness every now and then. Anyway. Judging by Dent's avoidance of his question about how he'd gotten his scars, he supposed the man didn't want anyone prying. That was good enough for him- for now.

As for himself, he only had a few things to collect: flashlight, radio, batteries, and hunting knife, all assembled on the desk. While he organised himself he had the intercom messages to consider, too- aside from the obvious mystery of the 'Eagle' (the authority figure he'd considered before, but who was he? what was his role?), there was the general cryptic ( ... )

So their standing orders for tonight was to resume investigation of that previous wing. With any luck, they wouldn't have their damn shadows coming to life tonight. Having his own shadow talk back to him once was plenty for him, enough to last a lifetime. As for that wing, they had only just scratched the surface, which left them plenty to cover still. That wasn't the problem. McCoy liked having a good look around labs, sick bays and and even though it was grim, autopsy rooms, namely because you could tell alot about a place or people just by their medical equipment ( ... )

Ritsu couldn’t help but be touched at how quickly his roommate had hurried to his side, amazed at how willing the other was to listen to the problems of one as insignificant as himself - something about speaking the words out loud had ended the numbness that had struck him when he had first heard the news. Saying it made it feel real…and though he appreciated the opportunity to talk, it had replaced the blankness he had felt with something much more distressing - emptiness, loneliness…a full understanding of what was missing from his life, now. What was gone ( ... )
