NIGHT 53: M71-80 HALLWAY

Dec 13, 2010 03:50

[In M71.]

Brainy was already gone, off to face adventure on the bold seas of Landel's. Peter wanted to protest this, tell him that he should be staying inside and nursing his wounds like a good victim of scientific mutilation, instead of frolicking about and risking further mauling. Except that for the first time since ever, Peter was in worse shape than Brainy was. Anything that came out of his mouth now would make him a grand old hypocrite. Out the door went Brainy, into the bed went Peter.

Balls.

Peter couldn't care if he was in full body traction, all right? The fact of the matter was that even if he was currently down an arm right now, he was still twice as capable of defending himself as Brainy was. History had proved this over and over again. How many times had Brainy almost died now? Two attacks by Grell, almost eaten by zombies in Doyleton, falling off the Sun Room balcony, yadda yadda yadda. Somebody needed to stick him in a big plastic bubble, because right now he had the mortality rate of an ice cream cake at a birthday party. Pain found him wherever he went. They were best buddies by now. For cripe's sake, he might as well have carved his name into that wheelchair of his. Nobody else was getting to use it.

But he digressed. At the moment Peter was the injured party (and lacking in flashlights), and thus needed someone to hold his hand while he tiptoed through the halls and hoped that they didn't get ambushed by some dark and evil thing. Which meant he had to wait for his knight in shining sweatpants to come fetch him before he budged from the room. Which meant...sitting in the dark and being bored as all hell.

Peter grumbled, glaring at the bed he could barely see. He sincerely hoped that Claire actually was a secret ninja. Then he might feel slightly less crummy about enlisting a seemingly defenseless girl to be his guardian for the night. Not to mention she was probably meandering around the hallways alone at this very minute, trying to find his room.

To be fair, she was the one insisting on this (God only knew why). That didn't stop him from getting queasy about it.

May the powers that be have mercy on all of them tonight.
