Day 53: Intercom, Afternoon

Dec 04, 2010 12:58

The intercom came on with a jingle, as per usual, but it didn't seem as if the Head Doctor had calmed down at all from today's strange trepidation.

"Hello, hello, hello! I hope everyone enjoyed lunch - now, it's time to make some music in the - ah - Music Room. Why? For the development of your crazy facilities, of course! ....ER, creative facilities. Dear me, aren't I scatterbrained today!"

'Scatterbrained' was an understatement. The Head Doctor took a breath, as if reviewing the content of his announcement, before adding:

"Oh, yes, and we will be having therapy next shift as well - oh, and, hmm... I'm... afraid to say that since Dr. Weaver has left us, we will be implementing a new style of counseling to a select few patients: paired consultations! Yes, yes, a few of you will be helping other patients achieve better mental help by sharing your experiences - or whatever you're comfortable with, anyway!"

Something crackled and then sounded muffled, as if the Head Doctor had put his hand around the mic. If a patient listened closely, they might have been able to make out: That sounds convincing, doesn't it, along with a sigh from a female voice.

The Head Doctor removed his hand again.

"Anyway, that's all for today! I hope you all enjoy your instruments!"

The intercom clicked off.
