Nothing I can put to use myself, unfortunately, but he did teach me.

I simply have no talent for the subject.

And my country is known for it's magical technology. We revolutionized the use of magical energy in just thirty years....

That sounds a lot like something I'm working on now. Even if you don't have the talent, if you have some information on the subject, I'd like to hear it.

I have information and understanding of spells, theory and application of magical energy. And I'm not an engineer by any means myself, but I've used magical engines and artifacts.

So I suppose I'm not entirely without talent, simply in this place. Unless there are any artifacts or engines lying about somewhere.
