In my RSS feed I have a bunch of photography, art and style blogs. One thing increasingly stands out and bothers me: I miss film. Now, I haven't shot on film in a long time. At first it was lack of access to a darkroom and lack of money. Then it became a lack of time and dedication. Digital is just so much more immediate and convenient.

Yet, still, I miss film. I miss working in a darkroom. I miss the ways different films saturate color (Kodachrome and Velvia, oh my!). I miss the soft grain of high ISO film in low light. Sure, I can fire up Lightroom or Photoshop and replicate some of the look, but it's never quite the same.

A lot of it is probably just nostalgia. I don't even own a film camera anymore. But I miss it all the same.
