So this morning I was awoken to the sounds of gunshots. Granted, I didn't know they were gunshots at the time, I thought it was just a car backfiring because I heard a car drive away directly afterward. My sleep-addled brain explained to me as I laid there that cars usually do not rapidly backfire 12 times in a row, though.
I try the phone to call Dave at work and the line is dead....great, I think, I've found myself in Silent Hill. About an hour later, the first squad car arrived on the scene and I tried the phone again. THIS time its working, so I called Dave and told him what was going on. The first two officers took a look around and then put up some yellow tape around the parking lot and all around the building itself.
From what I can hear (all of this is going on right outside my window), it was a drug shootout of some sort. I've not seen any paramedics show up, so I'm starting to assume that nobody was killed, but a few cars in the parking lot have got bulletholes in them, the shells they were able to find all have numbered markers set up next to them. From what I can see there are four squadcars, a van, and two investigators' cars.
It looks like they're currently examining all the cars in the immediate lot for bulletholes. The dumpster took a couple of shots and I'm not sure but it looks like our car might have taken one in the ass as well. I can't tell from up here, really, that might just be a dead leaf or something but considering that it was parked right next to the dumpster, its certainly a possibility. I'll have to go look later.
Never a dull moment in this place, I tell you what. I hope like hell this is in the paper tomorrow because I'm insanely curious as to what went down and from what I can hear, they're refusing to tell any of the tenants what went on.
