Planning ahead
We're both getting to the age where our cousins are starting to die off, and he still has aunts and uncles left. Mom will be 90 this year. I figured I'd better make a dress that's suitable for funerals and such. I'm not much of a seamstress, so it has to be a simple pattern.
I figure a square-necked yoke with a straight fall to just above the knee, then two tiers, like so:
I'll use this material for the yoke and sash:
and then a black cotton/linen blend for the rest. I'll do at least one test dress in cheapie fabric, first.
