I pick up the bag worms and toss them in the creek. It's kind of a pity--they're pretty caterpillars in a way, but devastating to trees. I have no idea if I'm doing anything at all by chucking the loose ones, but I do it anyway. So far they haven't infested any of the fruit trees, of which the plum intends to produce, as does the nectarine and flowering crab. The fig still hasn't decided if it likes it here, though the grape is putting out leaves.
I had a radish from the garden this morning. It tasted radishy. The cat smelled it on my breath and decided he didn't want any.
I found a shed snakeskin down by the creek. I nearly missed it, it was so unobtrusively colored. I thought at first it was a mesh produce bag someone had discarded in the drive, then took a closer look. Decent-sized snake. I'd have brought the skin in, but it smelled like a reptile.
