The beehive of activity that is Zammit

Hello everyone, the title makes you think I have been very active and well that isn't really so to be honest, I just needed a title that wasn't "hello again everyone" or a variation thereof.

Actually to my credit I have done a few things lately.

Firstly I went back down to Milton Keynes for a couple of days to pick up my dissertation proposal and some DnD books. Was fun to be back down in MK, the weather was nice so me and my brother decided to trek upto the city, around it, then to Staples and then back to my house in the search for a computer mouse with more than 3 buttons (that wasn't cordless). I can safely say, that no such mice are readily available in MK, which meant technically that the walk was in vain, but I had fun nonetheless.

The nice day helped me appreciate the unsung quality of Milton Keynes and of Heelands, in that the estate system is really quite interesting in how (atleast Heelands) the layout of houses is very different for different areas of the estate. Some places you wouldn't guess are on the same estate as others and it gives them a real unique feel. It re-inforces my brothers timeless quote "MK is a place you wouldn't wanna visit for a holiday, but you would want to live here". It also re-inforces the prediction in my head that when me and my siblings finally move out into the real world of tax and mortgage, we will all probably live within 10 minutes walking distance of each other, just like my Dad's family in Malta (and to a moderate extent, my mothers family in MK).

I have yet to do any work for my dissertation but will need to for wednesday, or atleast have some questions ready for my supervisor meeting that day. I need to solidify my final question (I'm leaning towards How Political leadership conflicts with Overview and Scrutiny, rather than the problems of Scrutinising external bodies), and land on a theoretical outlook, I was considering a discourse approach but that might be harder than I appreciate, so I might just stick with Rational choice/Institutionalism, especially since I put that in my proposal and I dont wan't to write up another to allow for the change.

I have been attending Computer and Video games soc a little, actually played some games this time. A bit of Counterstrike and a little bit of Soul Caliber 2. I might forfeit the odd meeting for actually playing World of Warcraft though.

Also been attending Sci-fi although that has become harder this year. There is normally a 1 hour meeting on a Wednesday , a main event on Wednesday evening (a Doctor Who marathon this week) and another 1 hour meeting on Friday. Unfortunately I have a seminar at the same time as the friday one but it is a bit sporadic sometimes. Also my friend Sandeep is only available to meet up at the same time as the Wednesday 1 hour meeting, so that might go out of the window. I will atleast have the wednesday night spare, assuming I never have any work in for the Thursday session the next day.

Thirdly I have been doing Roleplay soc which has finally amounted to me joining a DnD Ebberon game. Yesterday was 3-4 hours of character generation and I am still not finished. Basically I have a Human Druid, so I am gonna be the healer mostly, should be interesting. The DM is a mate of mine and is new to the role, so it should be fairly light I reckon, although one person I know who has a character is a bit insane so it might get frustrating or hard towards the end. Still I look forward to it as I never have played a proper campaign before and I will get to see if Druids are any good or not.

In other areas I have been on MSN to my mate Tom alot, we have a system now where we both stream either newsnight or question time (from the BBC website), then comment using MSN over them. I might try getting a headphone w/ mic and try using the teamspeak server for the same purpose, I will have to see and will post it up if it ever gets anywhere.
I have also joined up with a mates website so that me and Tom can share a politics column on it (Well Tom was on it first and I joined is the total truth). So far we have mainly done political philosophy/theory, but hopefully when we get into our stride we will actually discuss proper issues. It probably will never be popular in any real sense, but it will help me hone my skills in terms of an analysis and writing. When I get permission and the knowhow I will post a link on my bio.

That is about it really, I can't think of much else. I do have alot of things to do today, this journal being just one of them. But hopefully I will get them all done in the course of the day.

Anyway see you people around, out there in the land of Tax and Mortgage.

Regards
Zammit
