I just finished reviewing The Scientific Worldview. At 20,000 words, it is the longest document I have ever written. And I really must say, "Thank God it's over!"
It's been taking up quite a bit of my time. What started out as an errant comment on a blog with no respectful reference to the subject matter, by mid-May, had ballooned into a quest to test my value system against the best counter-arguments. I was surprised how many holes I found in the book, what complete outlandish mistakes were made. It would be one thing to present things in a way with which I disagreed. But there were actually factual errors! Of course, being an idealist, I don't believe in factual errors because I don't believe in facts, because I believe consciousness creates reality. But for a materialist, where facts are everything, this is a problem.
It continues to amaze me how silly the human ego is. It was one thing to state things in a strange way, even counter-factual things. But the audacity of the author to invent proper nouns! I'll tell you, science is riddled with egotists. It's quite funny, too, considering how "objective" (and therefore theoretically free of the influence of a creative mind) it's all supposed to be.
