I had an awesome weekend past, and felt like talking about it. I went to my Grandmother's house in Pennsylvania for my mom's side of the family Christmas. I never really appreciate how much I miss them all until I see them. On my father's side of the family, everyone gets along pretty well, but it's nothing like my mom's side. Everyone is happy to see each other. Everyone gets along (except one black sheep aunt noone really likes) and will randomly just stop as they are passing you by to hug you. Yet, it's also really fun because everyone also razzes each other. It's loud. It's chaotic. It's Christmas. It's family.
We all only really see each other once a year on the weekend before Christmas, so I think it's because we are all appreciative of the one chance we have to be together. We stay up until deep into the night (and sometimes the morning) playing cards, bullshitting, and antagonizing each other.
My Aunt Anne had a special present for everyone this Christmas also. My Grandfather died a little over a year ago, which had a huge impact on the whole family. She got Grandma and all her siblings a special ornament with his name and dates he lived on one side with a prayer on the other. To all the grandchildren, she gave a picture of him with M&Ms and Scooby-doo stickers on it ( 2 things he was notorious for loving). Alot of people cried.
I realized a handful of my cousins were missing after that, and I looked around and found them downstairs, all crying their eyes out. I comforted them and provided a shoulder for them to cry on for a bit until i convinced them to go back and enjoy the time we all had together. My cousin Sara, who is 15, stayed behind, so I stayed with her a bit longer. I've never really talked that much with Sara, as she is 10 years younger than me, so I don't really know here that well. She was holding a sketch book, so I asked what kind of stuff she liked to draw. She let me see her sketch book and I found it full of anime stuff that she had drawn. As it turns out, I have more in common with her than any of my other cousins. We talked for like 2 hours and then alot the rest of the weekend, so we really bonded. Was really cool. I'm going to miss her until I see them all in October for the wedding.
The only thing that sucked about this weekend, was that Chrissy wasn't there. Missed her, especially when I saw all my other cousins together with there significant others. She had to work Saturday, and ended up not being able to come because of the weather. She was really disappointed, and I felt pretty bad about it, but still managed to have a great weekend.
Anyway... that was my weekend. This ended up really long, guess i had a lot on my mind.
