I wrote this to Yogi, copying it out here so I don't have to type it again for everyone else.
Things are going fairly well, I think. I'm riding pretty much every day, a half hour to an hour, usually, depending on what we're doing. There are seven horses on the farm, but three are only one and two years old, and one of the others hasn't been started yet, though we may be doing that this summer. Anita likes to go out and do a lot of riding out of the ring, so usually we go out together with two of the riding horses, and then I go out alone with the third. We usually do a litle 40 minute loop, mostly walking. The weather has been either really hot or really rainy, and when it's not raining there are a lot of horseflies. Clouds of them. So recently we've been going out with fly sheets and makeshift towel neck-covers on the horses' necks to keep them off, and that kind of getup is a bit much to do trotting in when it's also 26 degrees out.
Anita tells me that she prefers jumping to dressage, but dosen't jump as much as she used to because she stopped jumping at shows.
Speaking of shows, we've been to one each weekend so far. Apparently there won't be more for a while, though. Two were just dressage, with six rings all in a big field. Anita tells me that they both had about 300 entries- they were massive(to me, at least. Apparently they're a bit on the small side for here). The other one had showjumping as well, so it was even bigger. I think Anita said the jumping went as high as 1.4 meters. It was pretty impressive to watch.
I'm running out of time here at the library, so I'll finish telling you about the horses next time.
