Friday after work I went on an adventure to pick up my MacBook. I ended up taking a cab there and back from South Station ($16 round trip) as I was unsure of really how far away the FedEx place was. Shockingly after all that mess, picking it up at their facility was not difficult at all. I was in and out with my brand new computer in less than 5

Hmm... IIRC, that may have been the one thing I had a bit of difficulty with. In the end I think I may have just foisted it upon him to fix. In general, though, the suggestions in that book I recommended (sorry, I really don't mean to be hyping it quite so constantly) have worked - have you tried what's in there? Otherwise you might email Mike and ask him what he did (I really don't remember at all). I think it may have been a case of starting out by wiping out the security settings on the network, getting it to see the network that way, and then adding bits back one at a time. I think we even had to expose the network (i.e., broadcast) briefly to get the laptop to see it -- and then turn that right back off. With rare exception, though (this being one of them), everything pretty much literally "just works".

A while back I needed to scan some stuff at my mom's. She has a scanner, I was all set to go figure out how to install the thing, drivers, etc. I, um, just connected the cable. And voila, I have a scanner. Ridiculous. I think this is what Microsoft meant when they said "plug and play", but they sure didn't make it work this well!

yeah, i haven't got the book yet, so that's no help. booo :(

So far nothing has worked and now it wont even connect to the network when we unprotect it now. siiiigh.

I give up for now I guess.
