Random catching-up post #3: the day Fry leveled up and gained a new skill.

Feb 26, 2012 09:52

As I think I've said before, in passing, Fry is tremendously jealous of Dex and Lumen's rich, yummy kitten food. It had reached the point where, at feeding time, he'd paw at the kitten food bag when I was doling out kibble ("Mom!  I want this stuff, dammit!"), followed by pawing at it randomly through the day, as if trying to figure out how to get into it. However, the binder clip I had holding the bag closed was pretty solid, so I didn't worry too much.

Silly me.

Naturally, I came out of my bedroom one morning a couple weeks ago to find a scatter of kibble on the carpet and a bag that looked like this:

Dex was checking out the bag when I took the pic (those are his little white feet), but there's no doubt as to who the guilty party was, especially since, when I taped up the bag and set it aside, Fry was immediately over, pawing and chewing at the *other* side of it with great confidence. ("I know how to deal with these things now!") I could have squirted him with the water bottle, but since I knew there was no way to police this stuff 24 hours a day, I went and dug the old gamma-seal bucket out of the closet. countessaleska and I used it for holding bunny/gerbil/guinea pig food, back at the old house when we had a more diverse cast of critters, to keep the moths out (we had a bad cupboard-moth plague for a year or two). The bucket was so useful I held onto it even after we moved, in case I needed it again someday. Hoarding FTW, in this case, because it fit the cat food bags *perfectly.*

Fry watched me seal up his newly-accessible food supply with his tail lashing and then, to my great amusement, flopped down next to the bucket with the attitude of a *temporarily* defeated supervillain (you can't see it in the pic, but his tail was still lashing fiercely back and forth):

"Next time, Mr. Bond. Next time!"

(I think they should cut out the middleman and make the next Bond villain a big, fluffy cat -- hey, if Dr. Horrible can have Bad Horse, why not?)

Ah, the joys of living with a Level 20 Cat (or whatever Fry's up to at this point). I have to wonder what new skillz he'll pick up when he hits 30 . . .

I'm sure it'll make for another LJ post.
