Fast thoughts on the new Doctor, computer update.
Watched the first Matt Smith ep with countessaleska and aibhinn the other day (Norwescon and travel considerations slowing down the First Viewing Experience), and the fast rundown is that we all enjoyed it, squeed several times during the ep, and have declared that Matt Smith Is The Doctor And It (He) Is Good; things are looking solid for the start of the new season and the new production team; and we've also decided that even though the character of Amy is young enough to be our offspring, she's pretty darn cool, too.
So, no great drama from us, just a bunch of happy fangirls. *shrugs* Possibly some more considered thoughts later, or I might morph them into any comments I have on the next ep. :)
On the computer front, I still have a dead laptop but am looking into getting a cheapie-ass fill-in computer (in fact, countessaleska and aibhinn are very kindly checking prices around town -- and looking at repair possibilities for aibhinn's laptop, which suffered a boo-boo and a broken hinge just recently). I'll still try to get the laptop resurrected eventually, but I'd rather not rush to get it repaired at the shop, which might rack up more in labor costs than a new computer system. I know some techie-types who may very well be able to help out as a favor whenever they have the free time to get to it; one just has to wait for their free time to materialize . . .
So, expect spotty communications for a bit longer, and perhaps a gap in my comments/replies (gah, the f-list is *already* at "skip=400"!), but I'm working on getting back here more regularly. :)
