First SpoCon after-report . . .

Aug 03, 2009 17:14

Okay, back home, still alive (barely) and waiting for a big van to show up and help me and countessaleska  move roughly half the living room contents today.

No time right now to do a full SpoCon after-post, but the fast rundown is that it was a good, nay, excellent convention, the only downside being the weather, which was freaking hellfire hot.  100F on ( Read more... )

conventions, pics, reenactment, weather, torchwood, spocon

Even though I apparently gave a bit more of a "wet t-shirt contestant" show than I realized during the "hitting bottles and cans of water with sharp swords demo." *facepalm*

Hey, the onlookers were probably jealous of the cooling you got from the moisture. Meanwhile, it's been an eerily cool summer here in NoVa (northern VA, i.e. the DC suburbs). We're due to crack 90 tomorrow for only the 4th or 5th time, then it'll cool off again. But I have enough sensory memory from a couple years ago to really feel your pain.

Sounds like the SpoCon was a blast; glad the "therapy session" went so well. Good luck with the move!

Heh -- I have to admit, the involuntary first words out of my mouth (in front of the audience, no less) in response to getting hit in the face with a wave of club soda from a can I caught on the tip of a spear (one person pitches cans to another, who spears them midair -- it's a game we play) was, "Oh, that feels good!" Which, combined with the wet-t-shirt aspect, probably didn't help ("What kind of demo is this again?!?"). *facepalm again*

I think I'll have to do another Whoniverse event at the next SpoCon, this one was so much fun! :)

Thanks! I'm sure we'll need all the luck we can get, even if things continue to move along fairly smoothly. There are always stumbling blocks.

I do get a giggle out of the implication that I'm only an adult for 3 days, though -- after that, it's back to being an overgrown 12-year-old, yeah!

*snort* Oh, can I use that as an excuse at work? "Sorry, guys, but I'll only be the adult for another 2 hours--after that, you're on your own with your paperwork and SOL..." I have to remember that for the next con I manage to get to a con -- whenever that will be.

And love the angel Ianto artwork! Sounds like a good time was had despite the heat (which we are now getting...)
