All icon-ed up and no one to choke . . .

Man, I was all ready to thump Mohinder via my cutting and witty new icon . . . and then he wasn't in the freaking episode!  Grrr.

Oh.  No, wait.  That's a good thing.  Nevermind.

Besides, Peter did a pretty good job of standing in for him this time.  Good job letting your not-so-dumb-after-all ex-con buddy trip you up verbally, Pete.

Yet another bad case of prettiness without brains.  Wonder if it's a hero trait?

So sad, seeing the first cracks developing in the friendship between Hiro and Ando.  Hiro no longer trusts his best friend, and it shows -- especially to Ando.  It's the sort of thing that turns into a self-fulfilling prophecy, unfortunately.

Anyway, any ep with Noah in it rocks, even if the subplot with Claire is a little dorky.  And Sylar -- wow!  I think I'll talk mostly about Sylar this time.

I have to admit, watching Ma Petrelli getting her hooks into him actually made me feel sorry for our bad boy.  She makes him look positively innocent (in a vicious, dangerous way, admittedly) by comparison.  His motives are relatively simple, and if he kills people to acheive his goals, he doesn't turn them into pawns and playthings the way Angela does as she carries out her labyrinthine plans.  OTOH, I don't think Sylar is quite as tame and clueless as he's playing.  I'll be interested to see where things go with this one.

Sylar + Noah?  Best Team-up of Kickass since the Companionfest in Doctor Who 's S4 finale.  Not that either of them likes, trusts or would refuse to kill the other, given the opportunity . . . but while they're playing the game and pretending to work together, they're a serious force to be reckoned with!  Plus they look spiffy in suits.

Random thought -- what would happen to Sylar's powers in the presence of the Hatian?  Would his immortality be affected in the same way as everything else?  Betcha Noah thinks to explore than angle . . .

I particularly liked the bit where Sylar, who has been behaving almost normally (to a disarming degree), suddenly shows his true nature and attacks the captives.  It's an intriguing moment because it paints him to be less a classic villain and more of a predator, in the truest sense -- he can't resist devouring others' talents any more than a cat can resist hunting rodents.  It's his nature.  Which, again, doesn't make him *good* in any sense of the term, but it does make him more interesting.

In fact, after watching this episode's performance, I'm quite looking vorward to seeing ol' Zach playing Spock in the new Star Trek movie.  He's good at being alert, aware and very *present* while at the same time giving the impression that his inner landscape has nothing to do with how any other human being thinks or experiences reality.  Sentient, but alien.  Great Spock characteristics.  ;)

Also, Matt's story is fairly entertaining, though I hope he gets to be a more active participant soon.  Though he's a pretty passive lad in general -- it'll probably take him a lot of time (and drugs) to get up to speed.

Anyway, my 2 cents' worth . . .

random, review, mohinder you idiot, sylar, heroes
