What's the deal with the debate over Arizona?

As some of you would probably hazard to guess by some of my views, I tend to be liberal on some issues. But I gotta side with the conservatives on this one.

From what I understand of the new Arizona law, people can be asked to show their papers on request when already stopped or arrested for suspicion of a crime or violation. Sounds fair to me.

Is there a risk of racial profiling? Maybe, but isn't there already? I don't think that's anything new to anybody.

And to be honest, if you're in America illegally you simply have no right to complain. If you're a citizen, you've got nothing to hide. I don't see the big deal here.

A law is a law is a law. You want to be here, you better play by the rules or all bets are off.

I think everyone should be treated humanely and there's no excuse for brutality or such, but if an illegal is caught and deported, where's the sob story? Illegal actions have consequences!

When I came here I too had to go through a process to be able to live here. And I have to go through it annually, renewing my residence permit. And paying for it. But it's the law of the country, so I do it. And I keep my visa with me whenever I leave. It's not exactly that hard to do! You take your driver's license everywhere, don't you?

So I guess the concern is all the legal immigrants or Hispanic citizens who are afraid of being profiled or harrassed. Well if the police hold up their end of the bargain and only stop people for valid crimes, all you gotta do is show your driver's license. End of question. Not hard!

There's plenty of people who went about it and are going about it the right way to be in the country. Yes it may also be a pain in the buns but they do do it! It's just not fair to them to be so soft on illegal immigration.

In my humble opinion, it's about time someone decided to crack down!
