Last year we set up a few plants along the little wire fence where we were growing the honeysuckle. Later we picked up a couple of roses, just to see if we could grow them. We have a couple of the lavender roses-Sterling Silver and Stainless Steel, in the front-the patio, if you can call a 4x6 chunk of sidewalk a patio.
I found the gift certificate we won from our local Classical Music station (KING-FM) several years ago, and went nutz over at Sky Nursery. We got more roses, lavender, red, yellow and white. Four kinds of lavender and some rosemary, curry, chives, salad greens, basil, tarragon, 2 kinds of tomatoes, heather, violas... Another nursery/hardware store had a sale... OK, we now have a fairly nice garden, with poppies getting started and, of all things, a tiny lemon tree.

We put out the bird feeders a couple of years ago and this year has brought Flickers, banded pigeons, house finches, sparrows, and, of course, my favorites, the Steller's Jays. They're an endless source of fun for Cheryl, and I wind up sitting out there and giggling at their antics and those of the flaky squirrels.
