I'll probably put a different version of this in
saint_merry, because I'm frustrated now. At first I was very excited about Le Cloître St. Méry being available as a searchable e-text. But then I heard back from the publisher, Belsen. They'll only sell it for non-commercial purposes. What right did they have to take a text that was in the public domain and restrict its use?
I am spluttering too much to be coherent. I've been working on turning that text into a freely available document for more than 7 years, and had plans that were technicially "commercial" for a translation. It's true that my laptop issues and the fact that the microfilm has been in Wyoming for 4 years has slowed it down, but I was legitimately working on this ages ago in a way that would have made the damn book FREELY available, as it should be since Rey-Dusseuil has been dead for more than a century
