Guest Blog and New Review

I have an article featured over on The Long and Short Reviews blog. Inspired by some probing questions from an aspiring author, my post is entitled the Short and the Long of a Novel Idea. It examines the difference between short fiction and novels, and some tips on how to transition from one to the other.

Also, another great review has surfaced for So It Begins, (book 2 in the Defending the Future anthology series, by Dark Quest Books), edited by Mike McPhail. To read the full review click the related link:

on the collection as a whole: “This second volume turned out to be even better than the first…If you are looking for a diverse collection of stories that will show you all that military science fiction can do, look no further.”

on my story in specific: "Other great additions to this collection include Danielle Ackley-McPhail’s “First Line,” set in the Alliance Archives universe, which contains her usual mix of action and strong storytelling, with an emotional tug." -Luke Forney, Luke Reviews

Congrats go out to James Chambers, Andy Remic, Jack Campbell, and David Sherman for the reviewer’s particular attention to their stories in the review.

Those interested in learning more about the Defending the Future series, please visit www.defendingthefuture.com. Volume three, By Other Means, to release later this year, Volume four, No Man's Land, slated for May 2011.

Enjoy!
