Ladies and gentlemen, the
University of South Florida has officially accepted me as a graduate student (French) and a Teaching Assistant (French and hopefully Italian) beginning Fall 2003!!! Isn't that good news?
Now I'm waiting on their official acceptance letter and forms for the consulate, which will be my (almost) last effort: will I get to get a visa by the end of July? I've looked into it and it's scary of course...I need 3 downloadable forms filled out, plus the university's letter, a 100$ fee, bank statements and health insurance something...but most importantly, I need them to issue my visa in time!
Has anyone ever applied for an American visa and can tell me how long a J-1 could take? I heard it used to take 2 months, but with the recent crap and increased xenophobia it must take more now...*sigh*
But still, I'm very excited about being able to moving to TAMPA, Florida, in August!!!
I'm also still waiting on the
University of Florida, which would be my favorite for countless reasons, but I would still love to go to Tampa! This consulate/visa thing is making me dread I won't make it though...*sigh*
