I think its really unfair that I have terrible lapses in memory, like I can't remember what I had for breakfast, or the name of Shishido-san's kid... (Anna? Ami?) But I CAN'T forget that elephant thong!

Why is this happening to me?

this is terrible

You suffered from a trauma to the head, yes? Excuse me for butting in like this, but it is possible you are experiencing memory troubles because of the physical trauma. Do you have a therapist that you are working with?

Oh, yes! I have a therapist and a neurologist! My short term memory is the most affected. I actually have a plate in my head.

Are they working with you on memory training and techniques? This is hardly a formal diagnosis as I lack sufficient knowledge of your specific condition to provide such, but it sounds as though you have trouble encoding new memories. Not entirely uncommon for someone who has experienced brain trauma.

I usually keep a pad of paper with me to write important notes. I'm remembering a lot more, but for some reason, little things here and there slip.

That is nothing to be ashamed of. Even people who haven't experienced trauma can have that problem. The thing is, short term memory can only hold roughly seven items at its best. Beyond that, we all will forget things if they don't properly encode into long term memories. Perhaps the inclusion of a ginkgo biloba supplement would be beneficial to you. It has been proven to help support memory.

I take a supplement already, but thank you for your concern! I'm getting a lot better, but it's nice to see that people understand. My only concerns are when I forget something that I should remember from my long term memory, and when I CAN'T forget something unpleasant.
