I know I don't do this much anymore but I have to make a note of this.
Last Friday (the morning after prom) ... I stopped by Wal-Mart to get some pictures developed. While I was waiting, this 84 year old man named Paul came up to me randomly and started talking to me for 20 minutes. Paul was basically in tears and told me he just got diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He told me he went to Lynn trade school and always thought he was going to be something in life and it never happened, and about how he missed out on everything in life and never went to his prom. He told me that his son died in a freak accident with something impaling him through the head in his garage, and that his wife is gone. Then he showed me his left eye socket and told me how it had to be removed, and then showed me his hands which were all infected from being in his basement trying to drain it after it flooded. He told me how he fought in WW2 and about how I should be careful driving too. I felt really bad for him and didn't know a lot to say, but tried to be as nice as I could. Some day we are all going to be wicked old and sick before dying and that might be any one of us. It's bothering me and it's going to bother me for a long time. Made me thinking though, that I should take advantage of the oppourtunity to do everything I want to in life and not worry so much about ridiculous consequences. .... Life is very short.
