Another long stretch without posting, so here we go.
I live in Calgary now. That's 3500km from where I was the last time I updated this journal. I'm in the second week of my PhD program and the University of Calgary. I can see, in the close distance, mountains every day.
Our move was the most horrible experience of my life. The moving company screwed us for about $3000, and when everything arrived they had destroyed a good portion of our furniture. And crushed a lot of boxes. And just completely lost stuff. We still haven't found our cutlery, which was a wedding present.
But I'm trying to move past all that. School is challenging, as is not having any friends around. I miss the Tall Guys.
The drive across the country was one of the most spectacular things I've ever done. This is a beautiful country. I highly recommend Lake Superior Provincial Park. Unimaginable beauty around just about every corner. The prairies were unbelievably flat, but stunning nonetheless. Calgary is nice. I'm still finding my way about, but it's a good city. I've been to a couple of decent comic stores so far, and there's many more to explore.
