Wow.....tiring but good week for me. Monday night I had a rehearsal. It was just supposed to be a vocal rehearsal for the song I am singing with 3 other guys in the show. I got there early because I wanted to snag my friend Todd when he was done singing so he could slowly show/break down the tap sequence in one of the numbers I am dancing.
He did show me and it really is just a matter of doing it over and over and over and over until it becomes second nature. Tap moves so fast (at least in this number) that if you think about it, you are going to be waaaay behind the others.
Then it was our turn to sing. The song is called "Don't Marry Me" from FLOWER DRUM SONG. It's a cute number. I have no idea how the director is going to block it though.
Got home that evening and read a bit and then to bed. Man....I could NOT sleep to save my life. I literally tossed, turned, punched pillows, got up, adjusted the a/c etc etc. I think I finally fell alseep around 230a. Of course I had to get up at 5a...so I was a real joy to deal with. More interesting was the fact that one of the kitties, Clawdius, came into bed with me. He never does that. He almost always sleeps in the water closet of the master bath. or under the bed. When he jumped on the bed and walked up to me and lay down and started massaging my neck and cheek with his paws I thought "Oh my god...I'm dying....he knows something and I am dying" Maybe he was just trying to help me get to sleep.
Tues. was hell day at the office. Running of the prebills. My 10a I was receiving calls and emails from secretaries and attorneys whining "I didn't get all my time in for last month." Wah...like I care. Of course the problem is that they had to enter there time and then I had to pull that into any prebills I might have already printed. Yeah..nothing like wasting paper. As it is, I go through at least 12 or 13 packs of paper when I run prebills.
That evening had reheasal for the "Kansas City" number. Oh momma. That is one hot number. Todd and Nan worked together on it and it is fast and fun. Done in the style of Fosse mostly (Todd's contribution). We have a great "clump" pose with isolation movement at one point. Sorta risque but very fun.
Well the singers came in and worked with us and showed us their movements and we showed ours. It's gonna be crowded but workable. The only issue is that the dance/dancers pretty much overpower the singers because the dance is that good. There is talk and debate going on right now about potential changes. Hopefully not many because I really like it.
Got home that night and immediately took a Tylenol PM. I needed sleep. I had just completed a 3 hour dance rehearsal (and yes...we basically danced for 3 hours....I was sore and sweaty) I hit the bed at 1110p and I was out. I finally slept through the night.
Yesterday morning I dozed on the train, as I am wont to do, and woke up 3 stops after my stop. Whoops. Had to hope on another train and head back towards the office.
Rehearsal last night was mostly vocal. I did find out though that since we have had more people drop from the show, I am now going to be placed into numbers that I was not orginally in. Luckily, no costume changes for this show.....but I am gonna have to be really on the ball to pick up the new staging and songs as we open in 15 days!!!!
Oh...and on a totally unrelated note....I just saw that next season the new network called WC or CW (I think), they are going to have a new saturday morning cartoon for the Legion of Superheroes. How cool is that????
Okay, back to work now...not that there is much to do.
As soon as I convert it to .jpg from .gif, I will be putting up the "flyer" for the show.
