stollman and I found a great Mediterranean restaurant in San Mateo last night.

Persian and Mediterranean cuisine
The hummus was creamy and perfectly seasoned. The bread in the bread basket was sublime: a kind of flat bread with lovely flavor and texture, and some really flat bread that was sturdy and flexible but easily torn for scooping. I had the chicken shish-kebab, which was cooked perfectly and delightfully seasoned, and best of all, taken off the skewer in the kitchen so that I wasn't struggling to be graceful whilst removing chunks of chicken and vegetables without sending them flying across the room.
stollman had some lamb; I'm not sure if he liked it, but I tasted it and it was quite yummy and well-paired with cucumber yogurt. The decor is fancy and flouncy without being garish. They were playing some nice classical piano when we came in, and then they switched to some not-so-calm but interesting middle-eastern dance/pop.
Oh, and they had no problem keeping my meal cilantro-free.
