It hath been a busy weekend here!
Saturday saw the arrival of
koucheksarai and a meetup with
dr_blonde to mosey on to Nottingham for shopping and shenanigans. The shopping trail led to many clothes-based shopping endeavours - I was very restrained (having bought Night Watch and Carnivale the ngiht before...oops). I got a copy of Fluxx and Action Philosophers #4 (the world domination issue). I resisted buying any shiny cd-ness and stuffed myself silly in Wagamama's. The evening saw us joined by Steve and Sue and Night Watch was viewed with initial confusion followed by much enjoyment. Apparantly one can purchase the sequal from those fine chaps at E-bay - an intense liklihood I suspect.
Sunday saw some more general socialising before the main event, Sisters of Mercy at Rock City. The gig was...well ...ok I guess. The support band were very good - kind of Sleater Kinney crossed with Souixie and the Banshees - although i've yet to find out who they were...
Sisters were let down by the venue really - for the most part the esteemed Mr Eldricjh and co were hidden by unlikely amounts of dry ice and the sound quality was awful - the bass was a bit too high and you could barely hear a lot of the vocals until later into the gig :-( ON the plus side had some fine moaning conversations with fellow punters and had a bit of a bounce to some of the classics (as well as to some new/lesser-known tracks , huzzah).
Today has been scarily productive. Saw koucheksarai off at 7.30ish then temporarily lapsedf back into sleep for a while. At 9.00 got the flow going again and began the packing thing. Many of the books are now in little box-like homes. At lunch time we realised we really didn't have a lot food-like. In a moment of bravery I suggested driving us both over to Morrisons. T'was a fine drive - with only a couple of traffic light stalls and an amusing incident where we lost one of my 'P' plates to the wind and rain. I have my refresher driving lesson next week on Tuesday - after which i'm hoping to be doing the drive to work for both myself and
min_t (who starts the new job next Moday).
