I'm not going to finish this book tonight. I've read it enough times by now, I certainly don't need to...

Robin McKinley is one of those authors whose work is completely hit or miss, with me. Some of her books, I absolutely love. The one I'm reading now, "Sunshine". Which is about vampires. Though not White Wolf vampires. Or her retelling of Robin Hood. "The Hero and the Crown" is an old favorite, too.
But "Deerskin" bored me to the point where I've never finished it, and I've tried a couple of times now. There's a couple others of hers too that I can't even think of the titles of, that I never finished either because I hated it, or was so bored I couldn't keep my mind on it.
Her style is pretty much always the same, though. And I don't think Robin Hood is inherently more interesting than Snow White. Okay, maybe I do. But I've read so many Robin Hood re-tellings that it shouldn't be that easy. You know?
In other news, going out again on Saturday to look at houses. I've seen one that I liked but it's going to need a lot of elbow grease. Nothing difficult, just a lot of sanding and painting, and laying some floor tile. Time-consuming. There was another one that wasn't bad, a lot more move-in ready, but I just didn't like it as much. We'll see.
