Sons of Kings Go to War!

The man is off his rocker. He is thinking on too personal a level to see the bigger picture; political hypocrisy has no place in the US anymore. A Commander-in-Chief should be willing to sacrifice his own son or daughter to a war effort if he is willing to sacrifice everybody else's. Perhaps presidents would be more inclined to analyze the contras of going to war if they knew their own children would be fighting it. Too long have rich kids and politicians' kids gotten away with avoiding the problems their parents have blatantly created.

At least Mr. Eisenhower's father had the guts enough to accept his deployment and make the bold order to "take [his] life before being captured." How is that "unfair and selfish" and how had his father been "too conciliatory?" President Eisenhower was warring in Korea, all offspring be damned!

It really is high time national leaders committed their children to the wars they wage.

"The next president and vice president will be busy enough trying to pull the United States out of its present fiscal, social and foreign affairs problems without being burdened with worries about an individual soldier, especially a child."

Maybe we should stop electing officials on the basis that they have families for some vague semblance of "family values" and start electing single men and women who have the ability to devote themselves to their public service?
