http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/CollegeAndFamily/RaiseKids/WhatIfWeLegalizedAllDrugs.aspx What I dislike about the article is the typical "all or nothing" effect legalizing drugs will hypothetically have. Though I see more pros than cons with drug legalization, I honestly see neither a sharp decrease in gang violence nor a sharp increase in debilitating addiction. 'Twould be nice if journalists actually used their skills acquired during their education to write objective, reasonable pieces... but then no one would read them, I suppose.
Anyway, this afternoon and evening were perfect, weather-wise. I love this crisp air and the gentle breezes. They are a far cry from the uncomfortable humidity and sloth-inducing heat of New England summer months. September, October, November: those Autumn months I cherish. A perfect one quarter of our spiralling journey 'round the sun. If only I could find the Forever Autumn....
I have often tried to find the literature behind The Pillar of Autumn. Alas, to no avail. I think it somewhere close to here, New England, ever pulling the strings of mine heart. I think it is the relief of a journey's end; that long, weathered and bleached odyssey coming to its close; that the comfortable and cozy sojourn is nigh upon us. It is the hope that all roams are rewarded with rests. It is that stoic tree, proudly erect, yet relaxing its branches, giving into the gentlest wind and loosing some of its plumage, every fallen leaf a part of consciousness slipped into a welcome dream. That is the Pillar of Autumn.
