Mad Duckets

Yesterday evening I took in The Vagina Monologues with Arthur, Mandy, McKenna and her boyfriend and Bjanka and her boyfriend. The show was put on and performed entirely by UMB students and faculty and the such. 'Twas a well-put-together production. I have ne'er seen The Vagina Monologues on stage nor have I read the literature, so I cannot compare the UMB production to anything else. However, from what I saw, 'tis a good show. As I had said last night, ultimately 'tis something I can never relate to. I have a penis. However, 'twas a good show, featured lots of humor (of which I am glad) and had enough heavy moments to drive home its message.

Post-vaginas, I said my 'goodbye's to the group and got picked up by Jay in my car. We went to the Ravage abode in Malden and, from there, went to Salem to hang out with some friends we'd not seen in a long time. At the Ravage household I got to see Al, Eli and Shannon. Shannon had exciting news about getting accepted into a PhD programme! Sadly, 'tis in St. Louis so, come August 1st, Shannon will be gone from us. Though that makes me sad, I am so happy for her!

Nick and George, who were coming to Salem with Amber, Jay and I, pre-gamed and were already thoroughly toasted. Oh boy.... We carpooled in Amber's car. The way up to Salem, Jay drove.

Once in Salem we went to Major Mag's to meet up with the Salem crew. I shared many a hug with many a fine friend. I got to see Jennabees!! 'Twas exciting. I spent the night sitting down and conversing, mostly with Erik and his girlfriend, Jess. Eventually Amber came over, sober and tired. The bar closed at 0100 and we hadn't actually physically left until 0120. Outside was pouring raining. Now with Jay drunk, Amber and I were the only sober kids in the car. Actually, 'twas funny. George, Jay and Nick were like three obnoxious children and Amber and I were the parents.

When we hastily got into her car, George snagged shotgun. Amber could not deal with that, so had me switch seats with him. Running about a car in the pouring rain always conjures thoughts of Jurassic Park. On the way home the boys were hungry, so we stopped at various establishments for food and drink. The only place open was a Dunkin Donuts. After getting the stuff, we were homeward!

The three drunkies in the back were obnoxious but absolutely hysterical. I had never heard Nickypoo laugh the way he did, last night. He was pretty much giggling. Finding them funny, I found myself laughing heartily with them. Unfortunately, Amber, being sober, tired and driving, hadn't found any of it amusing. But--oh man!--was it amusing.

There was a point where George began zealously throwing the Dunkin Donuts trash out the window as Amber cruised through Route One. Much to Nick's horror and chagrin, George grabbed a bag with a giant chocolate chip cookie in it... Nick's giant chocolate chip cookie. George's swift removal of the bag, along with Nick's shocked expression and shouts of "No! No!" were too funny. We laughed for a good while about it.

Once back in Malden I got to drive Jay and myself home to Winthrop. We got in 'round a quarter to three. 'Twas a real good evening.
