Oshitari-san, I apologize if I've been waking you at all when I get up in the morning or when I finally get back at night. I've pretty much moved into the music studios now I think, what with practicing my composition assessment piece, not to mention the fact I got picked out of all the other first year music students to represent our class at a ( Read more... )

And I thought the piano pieces we were doing were difficult. Good luck with that.

As hard as it is... It is still fun to play. I have almost no time for piano at the moment though.... It's a pity.

They've decided that we need to spice up the high school program, since we do play more than classical music. However, doing rap on a piano is kind of odd. Sounds cool, though.

... I think i just found my next personal project. As soon as I'm finished with my violin recital, I'm going to focus on piano for a bit I think.

I can't wait to hear you play it, Yamato-senpai.

There's quite a bit of sheet music available. I'm still deciding between that and this "Dead and Gone" song. I like both.

Well, my senpai are far better at it than me, of course, but I'm flattered.

I'm kind of glad we didn't have to choose our piece. Getting four different year students to agree on one piece to perform is impossible.

And mine are far better than me. There is a girl in my class who plays the double bass beautifully, and a boy in the honors class who is captivating on the violin... but they picked me for the male violinist and an honors student for the double bass... I just don't understand it.

Well, we were told that our performance was going to be rap and R&B based, and we were given the sheet music from several to pick. The two of us are still deciding.

Honestly, I'm surprised that I was picked as well. I'm a sophomore by credits, but this is my first year here.

Well, whichever you decide, I'm sure it will sound great.

I'm not going to complain, though. To be able to do this sort of thing when I haven't been here that long...

Thank you. I'm looking forward to hearing the string piece.

True, true. It's an honor.

... So am I. I admit I'm nervous about how it will turn out.

Performing is always nerve-inducing, isn't it?

Not usually for me. It's just my first time I've had to perform without it being with an orchestra. I've only played solo to an audience once before, but that was my mother's funeral so.... I don't count it.

You'll be with three others, right? It's not exactly a solo performance.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

But I'm still first violin, so most of the attention will be on me.

Ah... it's okay. It's... good she passed away when she did. She had breast cancer and she wanted to see me graduate high school.. She didn't make it, but I'm almost glad she didn't. She was suffering too much...

(ooc: ... I wasn't expecting him to open up. Oh well. Yamato gets to be the first to hear the whole story)

Do you think that the students will be able to pick out that you're first? They may just listen to the piece as a whole.

Ah. Unfortunately, I understand. My childhood piano teacher is currently battling cancer.

Considering the current formation we've been practicing has me playing near the front of the stage for the entire of the song, and the second violin forward occasionally but not for the whole song... I think so.

Cancer is so common these days... but it's still so hard to talk about...
