Now THAT's an encore!

Ronnie and I went to the Foo Fighters concert last night at the American Airlines Center.  So much fun!  You know how ALL bands always come back for an encore after the crowd stands and cheers for about 10 minutes chanting for the band to come back out?  At the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert we went to last year, the band came out, played one song, and then the lead guitarist left the stage, leaving the rest of the band to just do a jam session for 20 minutes.  It was such a horrible ending to the show.

Last night, a camera man followed the band backstage, and then the lead singer (sorry, I never know names) stood by the set list that was posted on a wall.  At the bottom it had the name of the last song he played, and then a piece of paper hiding the rest of the list... obviously the songs for the encore.  So then he kept playing to the camera and to the crowd.  He mouthed something like, "You want me to do 1 more song?" and of course the crowd went nuts.  Then he said, "2 songs??"  Again, the crowd went nuts.  Then he said, "3 songs??"  And you know what happened then.  The ending of the concert was so great!  Definitely not a let-down like the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I also had a lot of fun watching the floor section jamming out to the songs.  It's not my kind of thing to be in a mosh pit, but I had a lot of fun watching it.  I was laughing hysterically at all of the body surfers that kept getting pulled down by security right in front of the stage.  They'd wallk all the way around to the back of the crowd, push their way forward and end up back in their regular spots for more moshing.  Not for me, that's for sure!
