if you go to six flags this summer, do not ride the "catapult" because it is very dangerous and is a potential murderer. yesterday at 6 flags, rach and i went on the catapult and we really didnt take into consideration the fact that when we last went to 6 flags, VIP day, this ride wasnt working. however, we didnt. the ride is basically 2 square boxes, connected by 2 orange bars with one box on each side. so one box faces the other. there is a ltitle bar that covers your legs and a harness over your shoulders. when the ride starts, the boxes are elevated about 100 feet, you rotate and do 5-6 revolutions going forwards, backwards, and upside down.

so after going backwards four times (and having the weirdest feeling because its a slow ride so you're hanging upside down for a good few seconds), the boxes were about to switch directions, so we would now be going forwards. the ride did not cooperate. we got stuck on the catapult upside down. we were positioned so that our heads were parallel to the ground, looking at it, with all of the blood in our body rushing to our head. mind you, it was also 80 degress out, so while being suspended, upside down, we were sweating too. it was the scariest thing ever. there were about 7 other people in the box with us and some of us were thinking of the worst...death. after 5-10 minutes of swearing and yelling at the people below us, and us being 100 feet above them, 2 golf carts came strolling up to the ride operator box. after 2 minutes, the ride slowly rotated so that we were now back to the starting position, but still 100 feet above the ground. finally the blood started to go back down through our bodys. after another 2 minutes, the boxes were lowered back to the ground. six flags security, and personnel were all there to give us free water and take our names, age, and phone numbers down. so im expecting a phone call from them relatively soon. i would love to get free season passes.

i mean, we were suspended, upside down, 100 feet above the ground, sweating, and perhaps on the brink of unconscienceness, and the best they could do was give us water? yeah, free passes should def be given to us.

seriously, what was going to happen if they couldnt move the ride?? would they have brought fire trucks and ladders to rescue us? but the position we were in would have been so hard to get on a ladder. once they let the harness off, we were gonna plummet straight into the ground. so many thoughts were going through my head as we were upside down...is this how im going to die? on a theme park ride at the age of 18? next to my girlfriend and some strangers i dont know??

i read about suspension trauma on the interent, and once the blood rushes to your head, in just about 20-30 minutes, blood loss could occur in your legs, and then your heart. if you're harnessed into something, like a ride, you will faint. if you faint, you have to lay down, if you don't (which was our case), the brain will run out of oxygen.

i was trying so hard to lean by head back and try to get blood to flow back into my extremeties, but gravity was just pulling our heads back down. it was scary.

lucky to be alive.
