OK so I've been back in good old England for over a week now and havent updated my LJ since Uganda, so I thought I should. Coming back has been quite strange not too strange because Uganda was quite western but still very surreal to be back. Seeing ppl has been kool especially Adam coz he's off to America now for the whole summer which is pretty gay. Had Brads b-day as well which was one drunk fest for him and not so much for everyone else, but was still kool.
Then on Wednesday we (Brad,Dom, Rich and I) left for Download, they dropped me off in Birmingham so that I could meet up with some AV's and I had myself a pretty good nite gettin on down to the ole cheesy calssics, then the following morning I headed up to D/l to meet up with the guys.
Download was one kool ass festival the highlights being:
1/Metallica playing a solid setlist with the special treat of hearing the entireity of Master of Puppets the album which was awesome plus the new stuff sounds much better. Instrumentallly it was very solid but the vocals still lack anything worthy of Metallica really.
2/ Prodigy - Far far better then when the played reading had to be one of the best gigs/show ive been too was actually a rave with ppl climbing up the poles of the tent and everyone just out to have a good time and a dance, it even got Rich and Dom dancing, thats how awesome it was
3/ Korn - wasnt looking forward to them but we were treated to a special show as the singer was in hospital so they got loads of guest singers in and played a really good set
4/ Avenged Sevenfold playing Walk by Pantera, the crowd just went mad
5/ hearing some new bands for me and seeing bands I hadnt yet- Throwdown,Atreyu, Dragonforce, Strapping Young Lad, Stone Sour, Arch Enemy, 36 Crazy fists, In Flames, Tool, G'N'R Johnny Truant and Enter Shikari (who were one of the top bands for me, check them out on myspace)
6/ spending time with my boys
7/gettin drunk and having fun with fire on the final night
8/the quality of the musician ship throughout the entire weekend
9/ seeing bands aagain - Godforbid, Hatebreed, SOIA, Alexisonfire and bullet
Yeah i'm sure theres more but thats the quick review. G'N'R wise I was surprised, i missed the first half of the set which by all accounts was appawling but the second half was what I expected of G'N'R, nothin that I really liked but solid, although the guitar playing really let the whole set down, but ending with Paradise city was pretty kool.
Top 5 bands: Metallica, Prodigy, Korn, Hatebreed and Atreyu
biggest dissapointment Deftones I wanted them to attone for the gig at wembly but they failed.
All in all though and awesome time was had
