Best. Thing. Ever.

A red tailed hawk literally stopped traffic during rush hour when it landed on the double yellow line to scoop up a squirrel that was crossing the road. While the hawk was getting it's talons around it's prey, it seemed to look at the 87 bus and the cars as if it say: "you THINK you can interrupt me when I'm hunting, I don't think so!" After a few seconds, it flew off. The person across the street who watched this along with me shouted out "That was awesome!" Too bad that I couldn't get a photo.

I had to look up what bird of prey it was. I knew that it wasn't a peregrine falcon, although we do have those in the Boston area. I'm just glad that it wasn't someone's pet that the bird made off with. It was pretty glorious in flight. One of the few things that I miss about Austin was looking overhead and seeing the hawks and eagles.
