Went to see "
Children of men" and, but the movie night group usses these silver ticket thigns where you buy the silver tickets online for $5 or $6 and you cna go see movies that have been out for 10 days. Anyway Children of men may have been out for that long but not in mainstream theaters. So, we ended up seeing "
Blood Diamond".
I have nothing bad to say about the movie at all. I was impressed, entertained, enthralled, on the endg of my seat at points and generally pleased. The ending was a bit too picture perfect to leave the moving as having the sort of honest feeling that you might want from a movie. But the only way to have left that sort of honest feeling would have been so bleak and dark after the rest of the movie that the downer effect would have killed it--even if it would have made it into a cult favorite for all time.
I was amazingly impressed with Leonardo DiCaprio but I am not sure if he should win the best actor for it which I think he is being nominated for.
Djimon Hounsou was far more impressive in my opnion and deserves best supporting actor.
All in all a very amazing movie. BTW, does anyone understand why someone would buy a natual diamond over a (more perfect) synthetic one (aside form the fact that the synthetics are almost totally unavalible for a few more years).
