Okay, so I'm doing work today and discover that under Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server that if a request from one user to AppleFileServer blocks, the entire file share is blocked from accesses from EVERYONE connected. I mean like what the hell? We tried this on Mac OS X first, and figured that since this was "client" that it wouldn't have as powerful of a file server. We downloaded the server install from Apple (we're paid in their developer program which lets us download it.) and tried it out. The binaries have different dates and diff says they're different even though they're the same size bytes wise but it has the same damn problem. How does AppleFileServer take full advantage of SMP and multithreading if one user's request to the local file system blocks out everyone else till its done?
ARG it just makes our life on this project more annoying.
Well I guess I should finish up the project thats nearly done so I can officially only have 2 things left instead of 3. But at least that one thing is so close to being done it won't take me long.
And of course today is 2/8 and one project is supposed to be DONE on 2/14 which I haven't even started yet and the other an alpha feature complete version of stuff should be done by 2/18 which I am working on now and is giving me much pain.
Then the guy from Edmunds Optics messed up his units on calculating the focal length lenses we needed and they're like a factor 8 off on focal length which completely changes the field of view. Arg!
Ah well, at least I have a massage appt with
mattlistener tomorrow to work on my neck and back some more so that should relax me a bit!
