From the title 411 article on nascar.com
It's Dale Jr. vs. Rudd for the coveted 10th spot.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is only 52 points out of 10th, a spot held by Ricky Rudd, who has finished lower than Earnhardt Jr. in six of the last 10 races.
That may not sound impressive, but Earnhardt Jr. has out-gained Rudd 1,410-1,172 in that span, an average of nearly 24 points per race.
Earnhardt Jr. has been one of the hottest drivers in the second half, he has major obstacles to overcome to catch Rudd.
Even though Rudd has slipped in the second half, he is still been decent, he was third at Martinsville, a flat track, four weeks ago.
For Earnhardt Jr. to finish 10th in the standings, he will have to finish well ahead of Rudd. If Rudd finishes 10th or better, he will finish ahead of Earnhardt Jr., even if Earnhardt Jr. wins and leads the most laps.
